
Korean Drama Connection managed to survive with a high rating of close to 10% which also attracted the attention of the audience. SBS’s latest drama, comes with a thrilling story about a narcotics unit detective who is framed as a drug addict to get involved in the mystery of his best friend’s death.
The detective character is played by Ji Sung. Although he had difficulty acting, he was considered successful in exploring the character of a drug addict very nicely.

Hanyang University Graduate
The actor born in 1997 graduated from Hanyang University, majoring in Theater and Film. However, his big dream was apparently hindered by the blessing of both parents.
Because, seeing Ji Sung’s history from a family of educators, his father also wanted his son to pursue education as a teacher. Until one day, he was inspired by Dustin Hoffman’s stunning acting in the movie Rain Man (1988) which he watched with his father.
He began to be determined to succeed as an actor, even though his father was against it. With this decision, Ji Sung persisted in continuing his education in the Department of Theater and Film.
Acting Debut in 1999
The owner of the real name Kwak Tae Geun, managed to start his career as an actor by auditioning for a campus drama titled KAIST in 1999. At that time, scriptwriter Song Ji Na was interested in Ji Sung’s acting and created a new character, which eventually led him to his debut.
His career journey began with small roles until he was trusted to take on bigger roles, especially the television series Wonderful Days (2001), the movie Whistling Princess (2002), the drama All In (2003), and Save the Last Dance With Me (2004).
Since then, Ji Sung’s name has been increasingly recognized by the public through various popular dramas, such as Secret Love (2013), Kill Me, Heal Me (2015), Defendant (2017), Doctor John (2019), The Devil Judge (2021), Adamas (2022), and the latest Connection (2024).

It’s nothing new if actors and actresses also become MCs on a music program, one of them is Ji Sung. Yup, the actor was apparently once lined up as MC in the Music Bank program with Park Eun Hye, from June to November 2004.

Totality and unquestionable acting quality, led Ji Sung to greater success. Proven during his 25-year career in acting, the actor managed to win several awards, including ‘Daesang’ or ‘Grand Prize’.
The highest award Ji Sung received from his iconic performance in the drama Kill Me, Heal Me (2015). At that time, he successfully played the character of seven multiple personalities.
In 2017, Ji Sung again received the ‘Daesang’ award at the SBS Drama Awards after starring in the drama Defendant. This crime thriller drama, featuring Ji Sung as a prosecutor who suddenly woke up in prison.
